Jay Lawrence Friedman, M.D. is the owner of the practice. He has Manhattan offices at 310 West 72nd Street in the Upper West Side and at 440 East 79th Street in the Upper East Side. He is also the owner and managing member of Tenafly Psychiatric Associates, L.L.C. in Tenafly, New Jersey. Dr. Friedman graduated from Princeton University. He is an Instructor in Psychiatry at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He completed an internship in internal medicine at a Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons Program and he completed his residency in Psychiatry at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School as Chief Resident. His fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry was at New York Presbyterian Hospital - Weill Medical College of Cornell University. Jason E. Estok, M.D. is a board certified psychiatrist who is also certified as an addiction specialist. He completed medical school at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia and went on to complete his residency training in psychiatry at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He has extensive experience in both general and geriatric psychiatry. He has been practicing psychiatry for over 10 years.
Sang Kyu Nam, M.D. completed his 4 years of Fellowship in Clinical Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts during which he also had sub-specialization training in adult, geriatric, forensic and adolescent Psychiatry.
Dr. Nam has an extensive career history of clinical practice in Psychiatry. He has been an Attending Psychiatrist at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in N.J. and an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey in addition to being in private practice for many years. Among Dr Nam’s specialties are treatment of anxiety, panic disorder, phobias, depression, OCD, eating disorders, sleep disorders, addiction medicine, neuro-psychiatric cognitive issues and dementia.

Margaret Cummins is a certified advanced practice clinical nurse who specializes in adult psychiatric and mental health nursing, with prescriptive privileges. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Hunter College in New York City. She completed her Master's degree in nursing from Hunter College, as well, and subsequently became a Ph.D. candidate in nursing theory and research at NYU. She has extensive experience in treating geriatric patients and has been in practice for over 25 years.
Emily Reichard, APRN, PMHNP-BC is a Board Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from American University in Washington D.C. and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, Philadelphia, PA. Emily holds a Masters Degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania, as well. She has expertise in all areas of psychiatry and is trained to work with individuals of all ages. Emily stresses the importance of both pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions in her practice and has a strong history of success in providing initial evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing support. Emily is an expert in psychopharmacology and psychotherapeutic modalities.
Kelly is a Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Her certification is across the lifespan. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Azusa Pacific University and her Masters of Nursing from California State University. Kelly completed her graduate studies both at Columbia University and New York University. She has a post-master's psychiatric nurse practitioner certification from New York University, NY. Kelly is also an adjunct faculty member at New York University, where she teaches psychiatric nursing to undergraduate and graduate students. Kelly has expertise in all areas of psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry. Kelly’s priority is to constantly build therapeutic relationships. Kelly’s expertise includes psychotherapy and psychopharmacology.
Suzanne Salamanca, Ph.D., APRN, PMHNP-BC is a Board Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Suzanne completed a Ph.D. in Nursing Science from Rutgers University Graduate School and a post-doctoral teaching fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. She also holds a post master’s certificate in primary care of the adult from Fairleigh Dickinson University, a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Thomas Edison State College in New Jersey, and a nursing diploma from Holy Name Medical Center School of Nursing in Teaneck, NJ. Suzanne has served as a faculty member at Rutgers University of Biomedical Health Sciences in the Advanced Nursing Practice Division from 2015-2021. She has published treatment guidelines for primary care providers in the Clinical Advisor, including Current Treatment Options for Shift Work Disorder (2013) and Treatment Guidelines for Alzheimer’s Type Disease (2011). She promotes the provision of team-based, culturally competent, integrated behavioral and physical health care.
Arrifa N. Santana, APRN, PMHNP-BC is a Board Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Queens College, Queens, New York. Arrifa completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner Program, at Molloy College, Rockville Centre, New York. She has a post-master's Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner certification from Wilkes University, Pennsylvania. She also has a background in Family Medicine with experience as a Bone Marrow Transplant Nurse Practitioner and this experience makes her sensitive to the relationships between a patient’s other medical issues and their psychiatric and memory care needs. Arrifa provides compassionate care utilizing a holistic approach and focuses on developing mutual trust in building therapeutic relationships.
Melissa Lillien has a Masters Degree from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work at Yeshiva University. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York and New Jersey with over 10 years of experience. As a psychotherapist, Melissa is available to empower you to overcome obstacles and reach your personal goals using clinically tested and evidenced-based interventions. She provides compassionate counseling and support and has experience with the geriatric population as well as with patients of all ages. Melissa is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the NEFESH – International Network.
In addition to the practice in Tenafly and Dr. Friedman's Manhattan offices in the Upper West and Upper East sides of New York, we also see patients at about thirty additional locations throughout the Northeastern New Jersey and neighboring New York areas.
